In a roster that is expected to undergo significant changes in the next years in order to construct around Wembanyama, Vassell’s retention is quite likely. He was a perfect complement to Wembanyama, averaging 19.5 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game. The Spurs have Vassell under contract for the upcoming season thanks to a five-year, $135 million rookie extension deal that he inked last summer.

As to the team report, Sochan will be treated for a left ankle impingement with arthroscopic surgery. After Gregg Popovich and the Spurs tried using Sochan as a point forward early in the season, it didn’t pan out, and Sochan’s season was all over the place. He was able to carve out a niche for himself on the squad after switching back to his old forward position. Sochan had a season-high 11.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, and 3.4 apg.
